The charm of a secluded spot in the internet

There has been a lot written about the big nodes on the internet and many people do worship these places of pilgrimage as Google, Youtube, Facebook, Twitter.
But those are like public toilets compared to this blog. Everybody "has" to use them. there is all sorts of crap there, people dump their shit there. Today, following/liking/thumbs-up/sharing is almost as reflexive as the involuntary action of excretion. Everybody follows the same format (dumps in the same bowls).
This is in stark contrast with this blog. Here I get to do it freestyle. However. .I. .want. .it.!

There is a fine gap dividing a public toilet and the toilet at home.

Coming up: Blogger's new look

Nice that this is a well-tidied toilet then!

I still separate facebook and my blog. They have different functions, I feel.

I wouldn't be writing long-winded essays on facebook. Don't want to be "pushing" it on the face of my friends.

The whole concept of facebook/twitter is relatively limiting, though useful for short communications designed to invoke bursts of emotion/interests.

People don't think nearly as much as a blogger would about what they are writing/how precisely they are expressing themselves. The generality of many responses on facebook has led to conventions.

Also data/opinion-mining short bursts of text is easiest.

There is still a lot of charm in long concise bits of text.

Still working on this one!

facebook is much more for communicating. I check it with the same attitude I check email.

Blogging is for exploring ideas. And allows longer formats.

I think the experience with blogging all these years have definitely been beneficial. Helped me get used to assuming everything I write will be public!
