Recently, my dorm was refuge to a few guys who had been locked out by their respective roommates because they brought home their girlfriend. That's happening in the middle of mid-terms week and has been devastating to their studies.
So don't forget to talk to your roommate about laying down some ground rules of bringing girlfriends in. Things like giving advanced notice, evacuation timezone and setting the time period they get their room to themselves.
However unlikely you or your roommate think that is, unexpected occurrences can have lasting impacts on the roommate relationship.

Well I haven't done any of this sort of planning with my roommate, given that I don't exactly know how to comfortably start such a conversation.
Thankfully over here single rooms are norm and hence whatever kind of stuff should happen at the other person's room instead of ours/mine.
That said I do think it is important to get these stuff sorted early on so that when such situations arise you are prepared. I guess I could start by finding people who would let me in if I get locked out.
(That said the locks here can be opened from the outside so technically I can't be locked out)
We can't be locked out here too, but we can't get in due to security chain devices.
It's still best to talk it over.
